Kalle Toivio
Organist & PianistKalle Toivio is an Finnish-American virtuoso concert organist and pianist living in New York City. Kalle Toivio is the winner of the First Prize at the prestigious 2018 American Guild of Organists National Organ Improvisation Competition held in conjuction with the 2018 AGO National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kalle Toivio received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 2017, where he studied for more than seven years with the legendary organist McNeil Robinson (1943–2015). In the Fall of 2018 Dr. Toivio will continue his organ studies with James David Christie in the Artist Diploma program at the Oberlin Conservatory. Kalle Toivio continues his collaboration with Nina Svetlanova, with whom he has studied for almost two decades.
Kalle Toivio is the organist and director of music at the Church of Notre Dame NYC, He is the founder and Sub-Dean of the Finland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Dr. Toivio is a member of the organ faculty at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege and the piano faculty at the Stamford Music & Arts Academy.
